I am a divorce and family mediator. While my offices are typically located in Plainview, Great Neck, and Manhattan, in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, I am conducting all of my mediations remotely. I am grateful that under these extraordinary circumstances, I am able to continue helping families through online mediations. My goal continues to be to help families resolve their problems and avoid going to court.
This is a very distressing and emotional time for all of us. Our normal worries concerning family, health and finances, are now exacerbated by the current circumstance. We are also insanely worried about the health of our aging parents. Issues between spouses and family members are now amplified by the fact that we are all living on top of each other 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are not accustomed to being with our children and spouses on this constant basis and in such confined circumstances. On a previously normal day, our kids are at school for much of the day and our spouse is at work. Parents are suddenly teachers to make matters worse. Families are forced to function together. However, this is not always possible. Many of us are also insanely worried about the health of our aging parents. Friction between you and your spouse that existed beforehand, is likely intensified, and this is bound to have an effect on not only your individual well-being, but also on each family member and of course, on the family as a unit.
There are actions you and your family can take to lessen the stress, as you’re facing continued isolation. Try taking part in activities as a family:
- Do yoga in the living room.
- Do jigsaw puzzles together.
- Go for walks together (keeping social distance from other people, of course).
- Sing or dance together.
However, if the problems you and your family are facing are becoming out of hand, I am here to help you. With my 20 years of experience and training as a mediator/attorney in both divorce mediation and family/elder care mediation, combined with my previous years litigating and my background in psychology, I am uniquely able to mediate peaceful resolutions despite these difficult circumstances.
I am fortunate that I am able to continue to remotely assist couples and families resolve their issues before they turn into ugly litigations. I handle:
- Divorce Mediations
- Elder Care Mediations—Sibliing Conflict over the care of their aging parents:
- Where should your parents live?
- Who should be making decisions for your parents?
- Who should be looking after your parents?
- Separation Agreements
- Postnuptial and Prenuptial Agreements
No matter how complex, large, or small your issues are, I am here to help you and your family.
Please feel free to visit my website to learn more about my practice and, of course, feel free to call me, or email me. I’m happy to speak with you at no charge. Our initial phone consultation is always free.
Especially in view of the difficult circumstances caused by the Coronavirus, I am glad that I can do my part in some way to help families. I am also now offering discounted fees to help some families during this trying time. I do my work in mediation in order to help families move on peacefully beyond their conflicts. If you’re in need of help, I hope you will allow me to help you.
Good luck and stay well.
